Never Run Out of Photo Space on Your Phone Again
At the very moment your dog FINALLY is balancing a banana on its nose, your phone camera roll is full. The banana falls, the moment is gone. Boo.
It stinks to lose these special moments when you don’t have enough room on your phone. So, we set out to find the best way for you to have (almost) infinite space.
Eureka! Carousel is a gallery app that connects to Dropbox (which saves your photos on the cloud, so they don’t take up space on your phone). You can delete photos from your camera roll, but still have access to them whenever you want. Sounds almost as magical as a real carousel, right?
It’s easy to set up, then you’re worry free FOREVER!
WHY IT’S COOL
Carousel is simple to set up, you can still access your photos and you can share your photos with other people. It’s a triple threat app. Apps can be triple threats, right?
#1: SET UP DROPBOX
What’s Dropbox? An online storage space. It’s like an storage locker for your files, in the cloud.
*Bonus* After your account is made, it will give you the option to download Dropbox onto your computer – we highly recommend it because it’s easy as pie, and is a great way to access photos from your phone on your computer, no special uploading sessions or connection cables required.
Dropbox accounts start with 2GB of free storage, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but you’re going to get extra free space as soon as you complete step 2. Onto step 2!
#2: SET UP CAROUSEL
Sure you can just use Dropbox to backup your photos and let them sit in the cloud for a rainy day, but if you want to have instant access to a beautiful gallery of all your snappywork, you’re gonna want to grab Carousel.
Carousel, made by the good folks at Dropbox, automatically backs up and organizes your photos and videos. You can browse and share your photos (that now live in your online storage locker) straight from the app.
When you download Carousel, you get an additional 3GB for your Dropbox account. 5GB can hold up to 1,000 photos depending on the size of your photos. If you still need more space, you can upgrade to Dropbox Pro for $9.99 a month a get 1TB (that’s 1,000 GB!) of space.
#3: START SNAPPING PICS!
Never stop taking those photos! Your photos will be saved in the Carousel app the moment you take them, as long as you’re connected to wifi. It’ll wait to upload till you get to wifi, unless you tell it to go ahead and back up over your data network too.
Every so often you can go into your phone’s camera roll and delete to your heart’s content. Delete everything! You’ll always have space to shoot.
And, if you need to show your coworker that video of your cats hugging each other last week, just open up the Carousel app. All of your photos and vids are there!
