Awesomely etchable

Adafruit Industries laser etchingsGenerally I don’t suffer from jealously.

But I really, really want to tattoo my laptop with Adafruit Industries laser etchings services. You could turn your favorite pic into pop art or Lichtenstein-inspired comic book art to slap on practically anything.

Unfortunately for me, it’s only available in New York City right now. However, it’s an open source business project and the guys behind it are getting resources together so people could open their own laser business.

Here are more etching samples from Adafruit Industries.

Blink-free in 3-2-1

Our readers are the best thing about Photojojo. In a recent newsletter, we showed you how to guarantee blink-free group photos. But readers Kristina, Mike and Colin pointed out the larger the group the more frames you would need to burn and even then you couldn’t guarantee everyone would be looking at the camera (another group photo nemesis).

Kristina: Have your subjects close their eyes while you are focusing. Tell them to open their eyes on the count of 3 and all their eyes will be open!

Mike: Have everyone close their eyes, telling them to open their eyes on the count of three. Count aloud, one, two, three. Shoot your photos on three. Two photos is all it’s ever needed

Colin pointed us to Scott Kelby’s tip on blinking (from The Digital Photography Book).

Count down, count up, either way counting to three is another way to make sure everyone has their eyes open in your group pictures.

Heather Champ Loves Photojojo! :)

What I love about Photojojo is [how they're] encouraging people to think beyond… so I’ve taken all these great pictures, what do I do now? — Heather Champ, Community Manager, Flickr

I just finished listening to a great podcast where my friend Brian Oberkirch talks to Heather Champ, co-founder of JPG Magazine, founder of The Mirror Project, and Community Manager at Flickr, about all things photography… including Photojojo!

We’re huge fans of Heather’s work, and we’re honored. Thanks Heather, and thanks Brian!

CellBlock

Our pal Heath points us to Cellblock, a cool embeddable flash widget that lets you send photos or videos from your cell phone directly to your blog, myspace, website, or ebay listing. Pretty neat idea, especially cool that it works with video!
