In the Photojojo spirit

So you’ve read The Photojojo Holiday Gift Guide - What to Buy and Why in 2006, right? Now head over to Digital Web Magazine’s Digital Photography Roundup to brush up on how to use that fancy camera. Since I always get asked about the shutter-speed/aperture relationship when my family gets together, I was glad to see it mentioned.

Do you hear what I see?

SoundArt Speaker

SoundArt UK Ltd. has created “pictures you listen to.” Canvas speakers are made with the photograph of your choice. SoundArt’s website says you can just hang the speakers on your wall, plug in almost any audio source, and enjoy - with no complicated set-up.

Now that’s music to our eyes.

Wherever you go, there you are

TTWT Experimental Travel Exhibition is yet another great idea for getting out there and shooting in your city or town. 10 easy steps and you’ve moved from your front door into the wilds of your neighborhoood. I particularly like that you can pick ANY place to start, so you could do it more than once if you felt a dry spell coming on.

Thanks to quarsan for sending it in to us! And if you try it, share your pics in Photojojo’s Flickr pool.

From bayou to desert and law to photography…

I should have known that day in 1980-something, when I cut a slit in a cardboard box and pulled a roll of paper with my cartoon drawings on it, that I was destined for all things art, design, photography, and do-it-yourself. Instead, I ended up in law school, with plans to be a criminal defense attorney in rural southeastern Louisiana. One hurricane later, and with a move to Phoenix, AZ and back behind me, I found myself thinking that I needed to make the most out of life and do what I enjoy.

Enter Photojojo: I saw the ad for an intern when the newsletter popped up in my RSS reader. It was perfect timing - and I decided to give it a shot. Lo and behold, they like me… they really like me, and I am now a proud Photojojo intern!

By the way, I’m Christy…nice to meet you.

The Digital Photo Frame — Almost There!

philipsphotoframe.jpg
We’re dying for a beautiful, easy-to-use digital photo frame with WiFi. Alas, it doesn’t look like this season’s gonna give us one.

Still, if you’ve gotta have a digital photo frame, we recommend Philips’ 7″ models. We had their earlier model at Photojojo HQ months back, and while the user interface is as clunky as all the others, the screen is sharp, bright, and a joy to look at.

A Living Picture also put out a new wireless frame recently that shows promise. And the eStarling WiFi Flickr frame sounds real great, though it’s not much to look at.

Upcoming Photojojo DIY Video with Mareen Fischinger

DSC_2921.jpg

You may remember Duesseldorf-based photographer extraordinaire Mareen Fischinger from her popular Photojojo tutorial on how to make a panography. Well, she’s in NYC for a few months, and last weekend she and photo whiz Sahadeva shot a couple new DIY videos on our rooftop.

Stay tuned for their awesome collaboration, coming up soon!

Mini-card Masterpieces

John Ralston's Myriotel Cards

When I first saw the Moo cards on Flickr I knew it wouldn’t be long before someone did something groovy with this radically narrow space. John Ralston’s polyoramas are the most creative use of the cards I’ve seen so far. Lovely.

Let me know what you’ve done with the cards or just tell me about all your cool photo stuff/ideas/creations. Send it to nicole at photojojo.com.
