A Miniature Model Example by Sarah G

Uploaded by SpooSpa.

Sarah recently posted some great fake tilt-shift photos using the tutorial we highlighted in our last newsletter. I think this one turned out really nice.

jaimuima converted a photo of her and her bunny to an illustration after reading our family portrait artists newsletter. Neat!

Mike Hollingshead Chases Storms

Remember Twister? That’s sorta what Mike Hollingshead does for a living, except instead of complicated meteorological equipment, he carries cameras.

Snazzy Camera Straps + Canon Rebel Do Not Mix?

Snazzy_Camera_Strap.jpg

We wrote about retro camera straps today, featuring a strap we’d been using for the past week and love. At the end, we also mentioned some colorful straps made by Denise Cozzitorto.

This morning, subscriber Liz Shuman sent in this tip:

One thing about Denise’s camera straps, although I love the one I bought… the hooks she puts on the end don’t fit well with my Rebel at ALL… in fact one side fits fine and the other scratched it up terribly. But the pattern is great… and it’s well made.

Thanks for all the goodness that you’re passing along. Keep it up!

So if you’re considering Denise’s straps, you may want to shoot her an email to make sure it’s gonna fit your camera right. We’ve been using Vic’s straps on our Nikon without issue.

Michael Hall’s First Stab at Photoblocks

Uploaded by mph.

One of our readers posted a picture of his first photo blocks to Flickr. I think they turned out rather nice!

He posts on his blog:

The end result is a pleasing tactile experience, especially with the application of a gloss gel, which conveys both an agreeable texture and a sense that it’s o.k. to handle the project. There’s also something eye-catchingly engaging about the 3d-ness of it. Your brain wants to put all the pieces together.

Thanks, Photojojo!

Diego’s Family Portrait Project

2003ok.jpg

Today’s Photojojo Newsletter features a really cool portrait photo project you can do with your family (or your friends!) And the sooner you start, the better it’ll be!

Our friend David Nuss wrote in with another tip:

There is a really cool exhibition in MoMA like this right now. 2nd floor - it’s a matrix of about 60 years (!) of 4 sisters. Really beautiful.

So if you’re in the NYC area, be sure to check that out, too!

Flickr Updates On The Way!

Uploaded by blackcoil.

There be changes afoot at our beloved Flickr! Starting next week, look forward to new navigation, improved search, and a faster (yes!) Organizr.

Full details below:

New Navigation
We’ve rationalized the site’s navigation, cleaned it up and (hopefully) made it much easier for both new users and experienced users. The new system breaks down into: You, Your Contacts, Your Groups & The World (aka Explore).

Aside from that, there are some other large changes in the new release:

New Search
Search has been greatly improved (with full booleans and multiple tags, you’ll be AND, OR, NOT and +ing and -ing your heart out), We’ve also added a search box to the top of every page and redesigned the results pages, so you can search for anything from anywhere.

New and Improved Organizr
We’ve given the Organizr a complete overhaul, aiming for maximum speed, more flexibility in searching and browsing while making your workspace bigger.

Person Menu
The pink balloon? Popped! Now you can mouse over anyone’s buddy icon and get a useful menu which lets you jump directly to their photos, profile, favorites and more.

More Photos
In our continuing efforts to show you the millions of photos on Flickr, we’ve bumped up the number of photos you can see on most pages around the site. (And, when you’re searching, you can toggle between seeing thumbnails or a larger version of each photo with some extra information.)

Introducing The Photojojo Blog!

Hiya!

This here is the brand spankin’ new Photojojo blog. Like our Newsletter, we’ll be covering Photo Tips, DIY Projects, and Gear.

But our focus will be a bit more broad here; we’ll be posting more links, tidbits, photos, and other interesting things that don’t make it into the newsletter.

Plus, instead of coming out just a couple times a week, we’ll be updating pretty much every day. Sometimes multiple times a day! And we’ve asked some of our friends and favorite people to blog along with us.

Enjoy!
