Mac users : Eye-Fi to iPhoto Assistant

We just finished concocting something extra nifty in the Photojojo labs!

It's a little application which automatically imports your Eye-Fi images into iPhoto.

Check out all the details on the Photojojo Uncut blog - http://photojojo.com/uncut/2007/11/27/e … assistant/

Then come back here and tell us what you think and any problems you run into.

If you're asking for help / reporting a bug - be sure to include in your post what operating system and version of iPhoto you're using.

We recently had a comment on the app in the Uncut blog post about it :

I’m running this on Leopard and I still get the eyeFiToiPhotoBackground script show up on the dock every time, taking up room despite the note above. Am I doing something wrong? Hiding it doesn’t work.
After some research I think i've gotten to the bottom of things. The method we were using to turn the app into a background app dosen't work with Leopard. I've used a different approach - and now it should work on Tiger & Leopard.

Before you download the new version - you should get rid of the old one.

You can move the entire folder "Eye-Fi to iPhoto" from your Applications folder to the trash. If the eyeFiToiPhotoBackground app is still running in your dock, right click it to quit it.

Then - you can download the new version here ->http://tinyurl.com/3d8afs

And install it just as you did from the instructions on the original blog post (http://photojojo.com/uncut/2007/11/27/e … assistant/).

Thanks so much reader ywu for pointing this out to us!

Keep letting us know if you have any more questions / feedback.

How to uninstall

If you decide you no longer want the Eye-Fi to iPhoto app here's how to uninstall it.

1. Remove it from Login Items
- Go to System Prefrences from the Apple Icon on the top left of your screen
- In System Prefrences under System, go to Accounts
- In Accounts, go to Login Items
- Look for the item "eyeFitoiPhotoBackground" - highlight it then hit the little minus sign to delete it.

2. Find the folder "Eye-Fi to iPhoto" in your Application folder and delete it

3. Restart

Here's a screencast of the process : http://screencast.com/t/stKlkzA4vtq

Susan:

I love the idea but after I install the Leopard version it seems to have a problem stopping.  After imports are complete, First a message appear under "eyeFiToiPhotoBackground" window that claims "an item with the same name already exists in the destination" with the option to click edit or click OK. Edit opens a script and OK proceeds. Then in a iphoto dialog box it asks if it should import a duplicate or not.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

Walter
