Yes, I am with Nan and Superdewa. Just one draw? That's not even competitive <LOL>! My organization is simple: I can find the important stuff almost instantly. Other "stuff" hoarded away in hundreds of locations takes a bit longer - usually after "sleeping on it".
The fun part is looking for something and getting sidetracked by another "good" find totally unrelated to the original objective. For example, a few weeks back, I was digging through boxes of slides from long ago. In amongst those I came across a Kodak slide box containing little plastic frames designed to fit in a 35 mm projector, while holding a 110 size slide in the middle. Forgotten I had ever bought them! And I never used them because around that time (a) I did not have a 35 mm projector, and (b) I had purchased a dedicated 110 size slide projector which I still have (it's a beaut machine!). But when I found them, I realized that they would be ideal for helping with scanning those 110 size slides. So, I put them in a safe place to use at a later date. A few weeks back, I bought a 35 mm scanner. After playing around with 35 mm slides and negatives, I thought of my 110 collection AND those plastic frames. Do you think I could remember where that "safe place" was? No way! That is, until last night. While waiting for the computer to shut down, I happened to glance at the bookshelf behind me and wondered what was in the Kodak slide box (you know the ones - with little yellow lids?). Lo and behold it was those plastic slide holders! Now, I don't intend to put them in a safe place again - they will remain on my desk with a whole heap of other stuff until I use them <LOL>. This will give you an idea of what I am writing about:
Incidentally, I used a film canister diffuser on the flash for this photo - a tip from the "Photojojo Book".

I remember you mentioned you found something like that.
I love my film canister diffuser. Even though I have a speedlight, I don't always like carrying around a lot of equipment, so I keep that in my purse or pocket for just in case I want to use my flash.

I have one that I forget to use! There are times when I should, but I rarely use flash if I can help it.

Here is my junk drawer. The flowery tools are so no one takes them LOL. No guy is going to borrow flowery tools and keep it around for anyone to see LOL

This is the diffuser that SuperD and TufTeach were referring to: http://photojojo.com/content/diy/diy-fi … -diffuser/ I've been meaning to make one too. Just took a photo of my kids yesterday, had to use the flash, and am kicking myself for not getting around to finding a film canister. Maybe today...

I like your flowery tools, Heidy. I've been thinking of buying some of those for myself for the same reason, but I guess since my husband's the only guy in the house (aside from the cats), I might actually be asking for it.
The only problem I had making that film canister diffuser was finding a film canister. Someone could go into business selling those.

Superdewa, I can send you one (as an early Christmas present < LOL>!) but I am sure there will be someone close by who can find one for you. Let me know if you do want one, won't you? Luckily the ones now are cloudy white. The older ones I still have as containers for computer bits, etc., are black.

Thank you! No, I have one. I made mine over a year ago. I asked a friend who saves just about everything, and she had just one, which she generously gave me. I'm just in fear of losing it! But now I know I just have to try out my Dad's old film camera if I want to get another film canister.

Superdewa, a husband is the perfect reason to have flowery tools. You will always know where they are. You can threaten to tell his friends LOL. I had a male friend over to help measure a window. He wouldn't use the flowery one and oh the face I got. I had a man one so I got the window measured LOL

Heidyth, your tools remind me of a story.
Many moons ago, when I made my living on tour, we did a show at an all girls school where all of the house tools were painted pink. I asked the house technical director about it and this is what he told me,
When he first got there, after each touring show left , he would find some tools missing. In an effort to stop his tools from going on tour he painted them a nice hot pink. The girls of the school didn't mind using pink tools and, having three daughters of his own, neither did he.
None of his tools left on tour after that.
So you see, while some men may balk at using flowery tools, those of us who are secure in our masculinity will have no problem with them. Perhaps to that end they could be used as a test for prospective boyfriends?
Hmmmm, maybe I should get some of the single women I know some flowery tools.

Yeah -- I don't think my husband would mind much. He does live in a household of women.

I can picture it now...on a first or second date at a lovely dinner when you all of a sudden you announce you need to build a dog house for your poor mutt at home who will be cold and shivering if you don't make a home for him RIGHT NOW. You pull your girly hammer out of your purse along with the handy lumber you had stowed in that immense bag, hand the girl-tool to your date and see how he reacts....

Here's mine! One of several hundred in my house. This is my bedside end table drawer. Don't ask me why I need tent stakes, whistles, snagged hotel shampoo/soap or even my grandfather's flask (or anything else in this drawer near my bed). Also notice the worst Christmas present I ever got (from my step mother-in-law) up in the left-hand corner. Yes, that's nose hair clippers! I was so insulted. Never used. Anyone want them? For these photos all I did was pull the drawer all the way out and set in our room's window light.

I do see some photography objects, Marley. Love the flask (I don't drink--like old things).

SuperD - Yep, I've got stories. They're all over ten years old by now - I guess that's why I can laugh at them! They're best told over a few beers. My best friend is single - which provides continued entertainment.
