Terminology

What is the proper term for holding ones lens detached from the camera while taking pictures?

Thanks

Are you thinking about reverse macros, where you turn your lens around and take photos through it? This can be done holding the lens or with a special coupler to hold a reversed lens onto your camera or another lens..

Yes, that's my flickr, but most of my photos are on Picasa: http://picasaweb.google.com/superdewa

I think I've read about this being done as a way to do tilt-shift photography.
