The autumn colours are beautifully captured, Belle. Tufteach, perhaps the out-of-focus rail occupies too much photo "real estate". However, the scene behind is tremendous!

Thanks, Candace. Autumn is a beautiful last burst of nature's colors and no two leaves are ever alike. Sometimes you only have to look out of your window. This was late this afternoon and the darkness seemed to bring out the colors.

This one was through the front window of the car (I was in the passenger seat) in Vermont:

I just wish I'd been able to get out of the car.

These are all so gorgeous. I had been thinking that we did this last year and it would not be ass interesting or as good the second time around. I was wrong!
Belle, I love the litle bridge one and the ones from your window.
Superd--he wouldn't stop, "Just one more time?" Regardless, the scene is lovely.
Deg, I did do a version with the rail cut, but decided to post that one. Here is the other... Click for larger view.

For some reason I am not getting the "copy image location" option on Flickr when I open the picture to a larger screen. It's only showing up as an option when it's viewed as a small picture in the photostream area. Wonder why it changed? Maybe it's me.......

I've been doing macro projects (trying to make myself do one every week) This week was with those dried out colorful corns people use to decorate their doors, homes, tables etc.

Nice, SarahCate. I have some on my doors (we always called it Indian Corn -- is that not done anymore?), and didn't think to take photos of it.

I couldn't remember what specifically it was called! I think they still call it that, I just had a brain fart!

I still call it Indian corn...but then again, I live in the land of Redskins football. Try to keep up with appropirate naming conventions, but we metro DCers have a way to go on that front.
Than again, I think food names are quite different. (Irish coffee, Polish sausage...).
Well. I'm not helpful with this at all.
Nice macros SarahCate. Almost make me want to run my fingers over the corn.
Hmmmmm, Irish coffee. It's the perfect day for one of those....

I really can't decide which is my favorite, SarahCate - The first is really special with the texture of the husk. But I also like your how you used the imperfections of the corn in the 2nd and fourth shots to make unique and interesting images. Beautiful.
I still call it Indian corn. Although I've learned that one no longer sits with one's legs "Indian-style." It is now called (in these parts) "criss-cross-applesauce."
I seem to not be able to consume enough coffee today. Maybe I should just go ahead and make it Irish. Thanks, Karol! (I don't like drinking alone, though. So maybe you should have one too!)

Thanks ya'll! MM I almost didn't do the 2nd and 4th ones... but I just kept coming back to the tips and loving the textural differences between the kernals and the exposed cob! The 2nd one specifically I actually almost discarded... I didn't think there would be enough there for a visually interesting shot-- but after a little fiddling in lightroom I changed my mind! lol

Yes – we've always referred to it as "Indian Corn" too. Its also one of my favorite decorations for fall and Thanksgiving. Beautiful photos Sarah. Great subject too.
