I love your first one!
IIRC this one was between 3 and 5 seconds
 me + camera + field + flashgun = aliens!
This one looks much better as a print.

I have yet to get out to try a nice long exposure (city lights, cars, etc.) but have played around inside a bit.
For this one I believe I set the exposure for about 20 seconds. Took my flashlight and highlighted the chair for a bit then quickly ran and sat in the chair. Once in the chair I just turned the flashlight on (aimed at my head) for a brief second.

(Probably best to check out the larger size)
I've also been playing around with a laser pointer on a wall in a dark room. It turns out rather well - with the exception of my poor drawing skills. :p

Ankou; I built a laser spirograph a while ago, If I can find the pics I'll try and post one.
Reading this thread brought long exposures into my head, and then we had a full moon last night... So I decided to re shoot a picture I did last year. The exposure on this one is much better than my first attempt.

12 minutes at f/16, ISO 100. I had the in-camera noise reduction turned on, so the process of making this image took 24 minutes standing in the middle of a field, freezing cold, at 4AM (don't ask...) Yes, I am crazy

yay I took one of my first long exposures
 (click for full size!)
I finally bought a tripod. My friend sold me one for $20 Sadly there was no traffic since it was like 2am on a Tuesday. Also got a cop's attention while taking it!
Oh, and for those wondering it was 20 seconds at ISO 100 and f/7.1

Hey, Will, did those swerving headlights have to swerve around you in the middle of the road? ;-)

Yay my speedlight is heere
@Tuftteach: Are you talking about the red lights on the right side? Cause after I took the photo I wanted to know so bad why they everyone swerved there.
@Red: Good tip, I'll keep an eye on the sunset times. Hopefully this weekend I can head downtown and get some of the busy traffic.

I was talking about the white headlights but now I see the taillights swerve, too!
I looked at your shot again in the large size--definitely enhances it!
I love when old threads like this get revived. I want to get out and try this, too. I especially like Ray Byrne's fog and Ben's one done during the full moon. I might like to try one on a rainy evening. We're suppposed tpo have a rainy Saturday before we go back to 90 degree temps next week?

Nice shot Will. That looks like a dip in the road if that's the swerve you and tufteach are referring to.
