Post your junk drawer!

I was sick last week and so I had an inside the house photo scavenger hunt, one of the better photos I took was of my junk drawer:

http://www.photojojo.com/forum/img/posted/resized_img4af073b12c5bf.jpg?url=http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/7981/img5376h.jpg

I thought it turned out well smile

So I want to see your junk drawer, what odds and ends do you hold onto?

What sort of junk do you want? I can do a nice line in the following: computer junk, photo junk, electronics junk, chemical junk or general junk.
I even have a good supply of digital junk on my computers. Virtual junk, if you will wink

This is your brain on junk

This is a collage of just 8 of what must be at least two dozen -- yikes!  I do remember a time when we first married, we had just one junk drawer.  I think I need to get a handle on this situation!  A few weeks ago I spent half the day looking for pinking shears I hadn't used in a number of years.  I knew they were here and I knew they were in a drawer.  I even got my husband involved in the search.  When I finally located them at least 4 hours into the search (in a drawer -- I don't remember which one) I held them high and told my husband, "see, this is what organization will do for you"!

that collage is amazing Nana -- the lines and curves and colors all work beautifully together. Did you just do that now?

thanks!  Yes, I used Picasa 3 to create a multiple exposure collage to superimpose 8 individual pictures of our junk drawers/areas over one another.  Its an automatic process and except for taking and choosing the individual photos I had very little control over the creation.  I did bring up the shadows a little to create more contrast.   I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.  It looks much better in the larger view.  Thanks again!

It's like a cubist painting or collage (or maybe my art terms are off -- Belle, are you listening?) . I think you should get it printed on canvas.

Cubist painting is exactly the right term, superd. Here's the wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cubism; nana's photo definitely has that feel. Very cool.

There's a long story behind this photograph...hope you don't mind.

When we were kids, the first place my brother and I would go when visiting our grandparent's house was Papa's garage. He had this old library table with a big wide drawer full of junk and he never cared if we dug through it. What was old stuff to him was gold for us. Everything seemed to have a story behind it and he never seemed to mind the hours spent with us messing with his tools and listening to his tales.

When my grandfather passed away, my mother and aunt asked if I could help them clean out the garage. As the door opened that day I realized that I would never be in this room again and that I had to document it.

So while this isn't my junk drawer, it's where I draw all my inspiration from...and I must say, looking at this shot again, my garage has a similar "ambiance" lol!

OK..sparkyourart...how long did it take you to create that masterly collage of artistic chaos?  And I bet you know exactly where everything is!  Love the empty compartments in the plastic "organizer" drawers.

Don...a beautiful way to capture a memory.  Was your grandfather a car-guy too?

Don, that is so lovely. I have a friend who posted a fantastic stop-motion video that a family member made of a similar experience. I want to see if I can get permission to post it here.

Sparkyyourart -- I think you should glue it all down and sell it.

I also have junk drawer(s) and a junk room (formerly a den/office/guest room), so here's a "junk shelf"

http://www.photojojo.com/forum/img/posted/resized_img4af4e14b26fbb.jpg?url=http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2603/4080871304_593d0d309a_b.jpg

After looking at the stuff on the shelf, the FBI would have no problem "profiling" me!
