Portraits and good photog. sites for tips

 I recently lost all of my bookmarks, which includes all the sites I've found that I like to browse to get some photo advice. Example: the how-to section of popphoto.com ... So if you guys could send me links to your favorite sites you like to visit that'd be ace.

I'm especially interested in portrait tips and techniques. The main problem I have is that people easily become aware of my snapping a shot of them and freeze up/pose. I'm wanting to invest in a nice zoom, because I'm not too stealthy with my 18-55mm.
