Sunrises, Sunsets and Cloud Formations
Odd how things happen. I have always been impressed by wonderful displays nature puts on in our skies and had been considering starting this thread in the next few days. Yesterday evening, nature prompted me into action with a wonderful display. Here are two examples, but I am sure other members will have captured equally or better, spectacular ones:
Both of these were taken at the corner of our street

This last one I will do some work on to "remove" the street lights and poles.

I was experimenting with my fish eye attachment and took these on my way home the other evening just before sunset. I like to shoot cloud formations as possible backgrounds for other compositions. Click on image for larger view.

Yes belle, on a good calm clear day I can see Siberia. There's another photo I posted with the Siberian mountains in the background. You'll find it in the Birds thread.

From what I have seen of the fantastic images already posted, members may not find any value in this article on taking sunsets I came across just now. But, I know I am always looking for new ideas (and help!) so there may be someone out there who will also enjoy this article: http://www.wikihow.com/Photograph-a-Sunset It has some great images and more links to other topics as well.

Some more sunset/sunrises from my collection:
Sunrise over our suburb in 2005

Sunset from the back of our home. I "doctored" this one to turn the roof of the house behind us, into "mountains" and removed the TV antenna and street light :-)

Another sunrise last year

and last of all, some wind-swept clouds high up in the sky over our backyard

Here's some from me...I love sunset, sunrise and cloud pics...it's just that I seem to get more sunset than sunrise shots...lol.

The clouds last night were really impressive, great huge boiling masses with a remarkable 3D depth.
