Mpix lets you self publish: http://www.mpix.com/productsinfo.aspx?prod=21
There are many other companies that do it as well.

What is a "Flush Photo Album"?

I think a flush photo album is like the type you usually get as your wedding album?

Hi Chuck,
Thank you for the links. What I am looking for is if anybody here in our forum knows how to do it.... i.e at home

Flush album; Alicia is right it is one of those big books leather bound that usually you get for wedding album (nowadays).  From the Lab Printers folks they call them "Flush Printing"

Do you already have the pictures printed, or are you going to be using digital images?

I don't have printed images yet. I am still working on them and i'm kinda slow since i'm still learning how to use photoshop and i wanted to do backgrounds i don't know how either.

I tried mypublisher.com i am not satisfied on their resolutions. I was wondering if I can just print my photos to my inkjet double sided and then bind them. The problem is how to make a book hard cover and what binding machine i will buy.

there are a lot of people/places online that can teach you how to bind your own books.

I happen to be one of them smile

you can make a hardcover book relatively easily.. just go to a craft/art store and buy some davey board and some book cloth to cover the davey board. You can cut DB with xacto blades or box cutters, and measure out your covers and spine to be 1/8-1/4" larger than your paper on each side that hangs over.. and.. argh, Okay.. it's complicated. It's doable, but complicated..

might want to just look up bookbinding resources online - I know there are websites and communities of bookbinders that could probably teach you better than I could

There are many great books out there on book binding... It will be much cooler than anything you could pay for if you take your time, and do it by hand... just make sure you're not skimping on printing costs, though, if you want it to last.

P.S. I wouldn't try binding with leather as a first foray into binding... Maybe try a few books without leather first, just to get comfy with the process.

Hi ,I am new here but have been learning how to make books during the last 12 months.
A good book is Cover to Cover by Shereen LaPlantz.
There are also two great yahoo groups.
Bookart and handmade books
handmadebooks@yahoogroups.com
book-arts@yahoogroups.com

The people in these groups are really helpful and some people are professional book makers.
Good luck , and i agree, leave the leather cover until you master a book cloth cover. But it is a great skill to learn and addictive.

I work with a company that prints and binds customized hardcover books in high resolution prints, in a variety of sizes (yes, you can even get a flush album and leather covers!) You can see my latest book, a copy of a travel Journal, here:

Picaboo lets you design and publish a coffee table size book (or smaller) with a 'lay flat' binding and they have a special 'Flush Mount' book which is really beautiful with a leather cover and gilt page edges. Its a great product for weddings and special occasions (The Flush Mount book is not cheap, but some of their other styles are great value). Check out this review of their service: http://www.makeyourphotobook.com/photo- … oo-review/

Try www.blurb.com as well. Maybe cheaper than some of the others. Good luck!
