Newborns, babies, kids
Okay, here we go. Submit some photos of children. You pick the age...newborn on up. I guess I'll set the limit at age 18 though, if that's acceptable to all? It doesn't have to be your own children, I know some people don't have them. I'll start off the post with a photo I took of my youngest son, Beckham.

Here's one of mine -- both photo and child. May as well take credit for both, especially the kid part because I earned that right the hard way. lol

Oh dear. I'm going to have to show restraint with this thread. No kids of my own, but I have 5 nephews and a niece - all of whom I'm very close to. I'll start with my favorite shot of my nephew Nathan - taken when he was 2 (he's nearly 5 now).

I'm so glad you started this thread....now I won't bore everyone with my feeble attempts to brag on my granddaughter. ;-) Elora at 3 months.

I'm going to include a few details because I just found out that flikr shows the exif data! And I always appreciate reading it on other people's posts. It helps me figure out how they got the pic. Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT Exposure: 0.02 sec (1/50) Aperture: f/1.4 Focal Length: 50 mm ISO Speed: 100 no flash post-processed-Picasa (I would really love to purchase CS3, learn how to use it and brighten up the face and eyes on this one.)

Kadilady, you don't have to spend big bucks for a good editing program. Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 (now with "Ultimate" added) is extremely powerful and does everything CS3 and 4 do, for a lot less. I'd be willing to help you learn some of the wonderful tricks it can perform. Shutterbug or Popular Photography (forget which one), while they pimp Adobe's products admitted that PSP P X2 is a better buy for your buck and offers many actions that even CS4 doesn't.
I work with PSP for 95% of my editing and when I'm working with my photography partner I use her CS4. There's really nothing special happening with it that I can't do and I have a leg up in that there's an HDR merge built into my program.
The money I didn't spend on Adobe I've spent on lenses. And now a quick trip to Phoenix next weekend. Can't argue with savings like that!
And yes, I really will help you if you get PSP.

This is a friend of the family's baby. This picture was taken forever ago. I think she's like 4 now.

Loving these! Keep 'em coming! Also, has anyone heard of an editing program called Aviary? I signed up for it, but keep forgetting I have it and haven't actually used it yet. I try not to do any editing on my pictures, unless it's cropping or switching to black and white. I guess that's part of the reason I haven't used it either.

Here's another from me of my two oldest kids taken just a few months ago in December. They're now 14 and almost 17.
I DID do some editing of this, softened it and made it black and white.

califree...talk about eyes! That baby looks just like a doll and that adorable pout...too cute!
Joanie...thanks so much for your kind offer! I know CS3 is way overpriced but I've found out I can get an incredible discount by getting a college student to purchase it for me.($200 PS, $100 for Lightroom) My main reason for wanting CS3 is because there are so many people online that I follow like Pioneer Woman http://thepioneerwoman.com/photography/page/2/ who offer tutorials and free action sets for them. And many others have very reasonably priced sets. I've been researching and looking for tutorials online for a couple of years.
Also, I'm a slow learner and fear that I would tax your patience I learn best by reading and/or seeing the tuts screenshot by screenshot. Like this: http://www.tutiki.org/w/index.php/Beaut … y_Czechman
but wow! what an incredible offer!
And a few new portraits

Beautiful photos! I've posted photos of my girls, who are already 10 & 12, all over this forum, so I'll use this thread to post some other baby and child photos.

Kadilady--Adobe photoshop CS4 is the latest version and sells for under $200 to students and educators. I have it and also thought there were more tutorials I could use with CS3. What I have found is tutorials for older versions are useful for the new versions, as well. I have used tutorials for The original CS in CS4 with very little difficulty. I too have trouble learning new things--takes me longer than it used to! :-)
Edit: It's $189 for the Education version for students and teachers. From my experience, education versions are the full meal deal, but you might want to ask before you buy to be sure and find out how different the versions are, if at all.

CS4 for under $200? Wow that's cheap for an Adobe product! Here's a few of my kiddie shots.

Thanks a bunch Cali. I love the picture of your sister!!! Also, Kadi and Rolls, your pics are really awesome!! Here's another of my best friend and her baby a few months after he was born. It's a few years old as well. Hopefully I'll have some more newborn/baby pictures to add to my portfolio by next week or so

I love all of these pictures! So beautiful! Kadilady, I am a student, and an Art major, so I have access to buying Photoshop at the reduced price. I forget all of the details, but I have school tomorrow (Monday) so I will ask for you. To be honest, I really have no interest in using it. We were using CS3 in school a year or two ago, they were already coming out with CS4. To me, there wasn't much difference.

Here is one of my niece, Shannan, and nephew, Jacob that I took. Changed it from color to sepia.
Mid0ri, good luck with the pictures!

Also consider Photoshop Elements, which is much cheaper than CS4, even the educational version. I've used both Elements & CS4 now, and I can tell you that Elements is definitely a lot easier to learn and does just about everything Kadilady is interested in. There are actions on CoffeeTeaPhotography that are similar to Pioneer Woman's and one can use in Elements. Seems to me that unless one is worried about spending the money twice, it might not hurt to get Elements first, learn the basics of Photoshop -- like layers, levels, etc. -- and only then move on to a full Photoshop package. I'm finding that even though I have CS4 now, I still keep going back to Elements.

Love this thread, I agree with superdewa, Elements is the way to go. It's under $100 and there are a lot of people starting to make actions for it these days.

I love this picture...a miniature pony, with 2 four year old girls taking turns leading each other. The one on the horse is my daughter Daelyn and the one leading is Taylin (they are both pronounced exactly the same just with a d and a t at the beginning) and their birthdays are 3 days apart! We did not know each other when they were born, so we did not plan their births or names! LOL Oh yes, the horses name is "pone-pone" this is the kind of name you get when you let a little girl name the horse! haha
