I shot this whilst with one of my photography students. The assignment: lines and curves. And we were shooting just in black and white. There is a superb spot on the top floor of this amazing building where you can get a great wide-angle shot but also capture a perfect reflection of what is above you, in a glass shelf that goes along the length of that part of the building. This was a five-shot bracketed HDR, shot in the monochrome picture control mode on my Nikon DSLR. Merged in Photomatix. Nikon D300 20mm f/3.5 F series manual focus lens @ f/11

The two photos above here are excellent ..... love the black and white ..... and the geometric patterns created from the reflection ..... also the bird setting off on its flight ....

The clouds on the lake further up  wink

I love photos of reflections.  Here are two of my favorites.  The skyscraper was taken in New York City.  There's a reflection of another skyscraper and also the clouds.  The other was taken on a trip to Australia.  I was at the Launceston Cataract Gorge.

I like them all .... but the one above here .... love the vivid blue ......

I love the clouds reflecting in the Gorge too with the waterfall ...
at the end of the reflections.

I believe the shots in this thread are my favorites! They are incredible. I have gotten to where I take my camera almost everywhere with me. I had been wondering where I could go to try and get some good reflection shots myself. Well DAH, this is Oregon and it does rain! I was out shopping tonight and had my camera with me and started noticing the light reflections in the rain. They are gorgeous. Before I got interested in taking pictures I would have only thought of the reflections as hampering my driving! Anyway, I took lots of spur of the moment shots. Here are a couple of them. I will probably do this again with some pre-planning and thinking about the camera settings ahead of time.

This looks a great spot for taking long exposure shots ..... with all the lights ...
(all you need is a tripod or a decent wall to put the camera on .... wink
Great thinking tufteach .... around here I would have to wait a week for a car to pass lols wink

Never thought .... this is an unusual reflection too ,,,,, .....
