Our friend Judy runs a one-woman shop making the most beautiful handmade journals we’ve ever seen. […] It’s Sherrie’s birthday is tomorrow - earlier this week I put together some photos of ours from our trip to PEI and had them made into a soft cover book for her… thought she’d like that. While her present is currently traveling, via UPS, from Seattle, Washington to here (it’s actually at the UPS facility just 2 1/2 hours from here but since they don’t run on Saturday it won’t be here until Monday) I’ve been working on some other things for her - like making a photo journal for her… just for fun. Their cheap and easy to make if you want to give it a shot - while I’ve never made a journal before I have glued scrap paper together for a scratch pad. […]

I bought some rubber stamps and an embossing pistol and have been trying out a few things. I also watched a tutorial on Photojojo and learned how to make my own book! I cut about 50 pieces of used paper last week into 4×6 cards and glued them together into my own photo book. It worked out very well and I plan to re-use old paper to make more of these books. It’s a pretty interesting video, and though Dove uses these goodwill-spirited pieces as their advertising campaigns, I think they deserve credit for the way they’re put together and the fact that they’re shown so openly and liberally. That’s really what kind of statement it is, anyway, a liberal one. Anyway, I saw this and wanted to share it, since we’re bombarded with “beauty” and society’s expectations and standards of that beauty all the time. So here’s the link.
