Our friend Judy runs a one-woman shop making the most beautiful handmade journals we’ve ever seen. Naturally, when we saw the photographs she used for her covers, we ran straight to her apartment, video camera in hand. So today we’ve got two special treats for you: 1) A how-to video of Judy showing you how you can make your own perfect-bound journal using two 4×6 photos for the cover, some paper, glue, and a few other tools. 2) Two special edition journals made with pages of sugarcane fiber and reclaimed paper by Judy herself. Created for writers, illustrators, artist and designers, her notebooks have unique features like an inner pocket for looseleaf notes and a spine that opens flat for writing or drawing across the pages. Exclusive designs on the Photojojo Store for a limited time. Buy now Photojojo’s Special Edition Photo Journals by Judy

[…] It’s Sherrie’s birthday is tomorrow - earlier this week I put together some photos of ours from our trip to PEI and had them made into a soft cover book for her… thought she’d like that. While her present is currently traveling, via UPS, from Seattle, Washington to here (it’s actually at the UPS facility just 2 1/2 hours from here but since they don’t run on Saturday it won’t be here until Monday) I’ve been working on some other things for her - like making a photo journal for her… just for fun. Their cheap and easy to make if you want to give it a shot - while I’ve never made a journal before I have glued scrap paper together for a scratch pad. […]

[…] I have been up to a lot of shopping lately and have been in a creative mood. Not computer-wise, though, so I won’t spoil with any photography or Photoshop creations. I bought some rubber stamps and an embossing pistol and have been trying out a few things. I also watched a tutorial on Photojojo and learned how to make my own book! I cut about 50 pieces of used paper last week into 4×6 cards and glued them together into my own photo book. It worked out very well and I plan to re-use old paper to make more of these books. I love hand made things! […]

[…] Oh, one last thing. Traci asked for this notebook tutorial. I’ve made a few of the notebooks–I used “Aleene’s Tacky Glue” for the spine, which worked really well. The video is really clear…If I remember correctly I had to do a bit of digging to get to the source site for the video before it would play. Let me know if you need that. […]

[…] Dove Commercial Posted on January 4, 2008 by blakejohnson I was looking through Photoshop tutorial sites tonight, a result from my newfound fascination with Photojojo, and found this. It’s a pretty interesting video, and though Dove uses these goodwill-spirited pieces as their advertising campaigns, I think they deserve credit for the way they’re put together and the fact that they’re shown so openly and liberally. That’s really what kind of statement it is, anyway, a liberal one. Anyway, I saw this and wanted to share it, since we’re bombarded with “beauty” and society’s expectations and standards of that beauty all the time. So here’s the link. Enjoy (or something… I don’t know if enjoying is really what you’ll do with this). […]

[…] I found this great video tutorial online and I have to say, I much like the method she did rather than mine (I didn’t have clothespins so I just held the papers together with my left hand. So NOT recommended…unless of course you have a working 3rd or 4th hand.) […]
