Heart to sleeve transplant surgery is painful, but how else can you show everyone that you're totally in love with 35mm film?
Enter the Lomography Smartphone Film Scanner! You can now scan 35mm film directly to your smartphone. Show everyone on Instagram your analogue shootin' skills. Let all of Facebook see your passion for film.
No middleman, middlecables or cumbersome equipment here. It's simple: slide any smartphone into the scanner's snug mount, switch on the battery powered backlight, slip in your film and snap a pic of the negative.
Flatbed scanners cost big moola and leave you with hours of inverting and color correction to get through. Lomo's free app turns your image from a negative to a positive, and lets you adjust the color and exposure before you capture it.
Never pay for a scan job again! Use your favorite photo editing app to crop, color correct, even add filters to your pix. Then order prints of the shots you love most, right from your phone.
No more heart wrenching You + 35mm film + Smartphone love triangle. You can love them both!
What does Lomo's app do exactly?
It turns your negative into a positive before you snap a pic of your image. It also lets you zoom in on your negative, adjust the color by film type and lets you set the exposure. It even has a couple extra features that help your stitch together panoramic negatives and animate stop motion movies.
Is the app for Androids or iPhones?
Oh Blerg! What if my Android is older, and can't use that app?
You are still in luck! The Smartphone Film Scanner will work just fine! You'll just go through the steps in a different order. Mount your phone, and take a pic of your negative using your camera app. Then invert the color after you've snapped the pic. Grab an app like Photo Editor. It'll do all the inverting for you.
What editing app do you use to fine tune your scans?
Our favorite app for both Android and iPhone is Snapseed. Check it out, it's free!
What’s the resolution/quality?
Unlike traditional scanners, it doesn't have a set quality. The resolution all depends on what kind of camera your phone is sporting. The scan will be as good as any photo you take on your phone. Remember, the iPhone 5 has an 8 megapixel camera and the Galaxy S4 has a 13 megapixel camera! If your phone has at least a 4 megapixel camera you can order prints from your scans, up to 8x10 inches, no problem!
